Our goal at Dyrham Park is to offer children a safe and fun environment to start their golf journey.
Our PGA Professional James runs the Junior Academy with the Junior Section and endeavours to do what it takes to offer the best opportunities for our Juniors. We cater to Juniors of all abilities, from complete beginners to county players, and we are confident that your child will enjoy their golf at our club.

Junior Playing Rights & Competition Entry
Dyrham Park Country Club is committed to ensuring that the sport of golf is one where children and young people involved can thrive and flourish in a golf environment and that all children, young people and adults have a fun, safe and positive experience when playing golf and attending the club.
The following rules apply to all Junior Members (“Juniors”) (Under 18s). All Juniors must have signed and returned a Parental Consent Form in order to access the course and practice facilities.
In addition, all Juniors must be declared as “proficient” by James Noakes, Club Professional, in order to access the golf course outside of the Junior Academy programme.
Note that as well as the stipulations below, there is no access to the golf course for boys before 1.30pm on any Tuesday and for girls before 12.30pm on any Sunday.
The rights and rules specified below are subject to the above conditions.
Definitions
“course” = golf course
“adult supervision” = a parent, guardian or other adult that has been approved as an adult supervisor by the Juniors Committee
Playing Rights
Juniors without a Handicap Index or a Handicap Index above 36:
All Juniors without a Handicap Index or a Handicap Index above 36:
Juniors 12 Years And Under with a Handicap Index of 36 or below
All Juniors aged 12 and under with a Handicap Index of 36 or below:
13 Years and Above with a Handicap Index of 36 or below
All Juniors aged 13 and above with a Handicap Index of 36 or below:
Competition Entry
Adult Medals & Stablefords
Juniors may enter Adult Medal and Stableford competitions provided they have a Handicap Index of 36 and below and subject to the supervision requirements stipulated above.
Adult Board Competitions
Juniors may enter Adult Board competitions only if they have a Handicap Index which is equivalent to or less than whatever cap applies to the competition in question (the only exceptions being the Father & Son Cup and Generations Cup, where no Handicap Index cap applies), and subject to the supervision requirements stipulated above.

- Outside of the Junior Academy programme, can access the golf course from 2pm in the Spring/Summer and from 1.30pm in the Autumn/Winter. If 12 and under, this must be whilst under adult supervision;
- Can use the practice facilities. If 12 and under, this must be whilst under adult supervision.
Juniors 12 Years And Under with a Handicap Index of 36 or below
All Juniors aged 12 and under with a Handicap Index of 36 or below:
- Can play on the course as part of the Junior Academy programme, subject to the adult supervision requirements of the programme;
- Outside of the Junior Academy programme, can access the golf course at all times but only whilst under adult supervision;
- Can use the practice facilities at all times, but only whilst under adult supervision.
13 Years and Above with a Handicap Index of 36 or below
All Juniors aged 13 and above with a Handicap Index of 36 or below:
- Can play on the course as part of the Junior Academy programme;
- Outside of the Junior Academy programme, can access the golf course at all times unsupervised;
- Can use the practice facilities at all times unsupervised.

Junior Camps
During the school holidays, James runs Golf camps for kids looking to try golf with their friends in a game based learning environment. Camps have been run since 2018 and have proven extremely popular, with over 150 kids attending yearly.
A typical camp day would run from 9:30 – 2:00 with all aspects of the game being covered.

Academies
Men's & Women's Academy

At Dyrham Park, we offer a pathway for beginners to start golfing in a relaxed environment with others of similar ability and golf experience, leading to full club membership. PGA Professionals Matthew and James lead our groups, and have been coaching our Academies since 2018. We believe that learning in a group environment enables beginners to develop their games faster due to having a more competitive and motivating environment. The Academy aims to progress each player to their first handicap within one year. If the target Handicap Index is achieved in year one, there is a academy plus option.
