Our goal at Dyrham Park is to offer children a safe and fun environment to start their golf journey.
Our PGA Professional James runs the Junior Academy with the Junior Section and endeavours to do what it takes to offer the best opportunities for our Juniors. We cater to Juniors of all abilities, from complete beginners to county players, and we are confident that your child will enjoy their golf at our club.

Junior Playing Rights, Rules and Regulations
Dyrham Park Country Club is committed to ensuring that the sport of golf is one where children and young people involved can thrive and flourish in a golf environment and that all children, young people and adults have a fun, safe and positive experience when playing golf and attending the club.

12 years and Under
Must be supervised by an adult member (18 years and over) or an adult who has been signed off by the Junior Committee at all times, including when using the practice facilities.
13 to 16 year olds – Handicap Index 18.6 and over
Can play unsupervised after 2 PM in summer and 12.30 PM in winter (from 1.30 PM on Tuesdays in winter).
Juniors can play before the above times on weekdays only when accompanied by an adult member (excluding boys on Tuesdays before 1.30 PM).
Can use all golf practice facilities unsupervised at any time.
All are subject to the parent/guardian having signed the Parental Consent Form.
13 to 16 year olds – Handicap Index 18.5 and Under
Can play at any time unsupervised (excluding boys on Tuesdays before 1.30 PM).
Subject to the parent/guardian having signed the Parental Consent Form.
Competition Entry
Adult Medals & Stablefords - Boys & Girls*
Entry is restricted to Juniors who have obtained a handicap index and are playing with an adult member, subject to the parent/guardian having signed the Parental Consent Form with regard to competition entry and cash prizes (if applicable)
Board Competitions
Girls*
Entry is restricted to Juniors who have obtained a handicap index and are playing with an adult member, subject to the parent/guardian having signed the Parental Consent Form with regard to competition entry and cash prizes (if applicable).
Boys*
Entry is restricted to Juniors who have obtained a handicap index of 18.5 or below and are playing with an adult member, subject to the parent/guardian having signed the Parental Consent Form with regards to competition entry and cash prizes (if applicable).

During the school holidays, James runs Golf camps for kids looking to try golf with their friends in a game based learning environment. Camps have been run since 2018 and have proven extremely popular, with over 150 kids attending yearly.
A typical camp day would run from 9:30 – 2:00 with all aspects of the game being covered.

At Dyrham Park, we offer a pathway for beginners to start golfing in a relaxed environment with others of similar ability and golf experience, leading to full club membership. PGA Professionals Matthew and James lead our groups, and have been coaching our Academies since 2018. We believe that learning in a group environment enables beginners to develop their games faster due to having a more competitive and motivating environment. The Academy aims to progress each player to their first handicap within two years.
